As we write this, 10 MILLION PEOPLE are still without power, gas is still in short supply, and thousands are left homeless. We are thankful that Cedar Key was spared this time around, unlike most of the rest of the state of Florida.

We know the Pirate community is strong, and right now are out in force doing what we do – helping those who need it. We applaud you! The community of Cedar Key is very grateful for the help the Pirate community provided to get them back up and running so quickly last year, after Hermine. We know others will appreciate and benefit from all of the Pirate love again this year.

After numerous discussions with long term vendors, actors, and city officials; as well as scouring over the Florida festival schedules, we have rescheduled the CKPI festival for December 1-3, 2017.

The END OF HURRICANE SEASON will be celebrated with a ceremonial burning of a hurricane flag sometime during the festival!

This gives everyone time to clean up, get their lives back in order (as much as possible), and their stock replenished for the Invasion. All tickets purchased will be honored on the new dates. We still have some, (very few), tickets available as well.

We want to thank the motel, hotel, and condo owners who were able work with as many of you as possible to rearrange dates and secure refunds if necessary.

We look forward to raising a tankard with you all at the Parlay, toasting to new beginnings and lifelong friendships.

Jean-LafitteIt has been rumored that Jean Lafitte, the famous privateer, had buried some treasure somewhere in Cedar Key.

He is coming back to town under cover of darkness, with pirates from all over the eastern seaboard and a small armada of ships.

It is rumored that the pirates will be setting up camp in the city park and taking over Dock street until the treasure is found.

Come, celebrate with the pirates. See how they lived on land when ashore. Learn from some of the finest re-enactors on the East Coast. Watch and listen as the pirates set up an outpost in the city park, complete with trade and commerce. Come and purchase wares and clothing from foreign lands. Listen to rousing, toe tapping sea shanties.

Prepare for the parade Saturday morning. All the scallawags in town will be in attendance.

For the Little Pirates, a treasure hunt with Bloody Sam Rackham, Face Painting, a costume contest and an all-day search for the most infamous pirates in town. The “Wanted Poster” will be inside your program found around town and at the Info Booth. (see full schedule)

For the adult pirates, sample piratical libations all over town, be entertained by the finest pirate musicians in the land, find treasures beyond measure at the thieves market.

Epic Battle for Cedar Key!

Then prepare for battle. The struggle for Cedar Key happens in the park, on the beach and in the water on Saturday, December 2nd, which pirates will choose which side?  Hear the clash of steel, the smell of gunpowder and the roar of the cannons!

Saturday night brings the Pirate’s Plunder Auction. Find amazing wares from across the globe, all will be auctioned off and a portion of the proceeds will go to The Children’s Table, this year’s chosen charity.

Sunday morn will dawn with many exhausted pirates who will head to the park for more music, more fun and the final cannon shot around 4pm.

Only time will tell the outcome, but whatever happens, you are in for a weekend of fun, merriment and a piratical good time.
